Natural Birth Control Methods incl. Male Dry Orgasm (contraception for Men & Women)

I am a sex researcher specializing in reproductive behavior and birth control. I graduated with High Distinction in Gender Studies and Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). My 2nd degree is from Columbia College Chicago (CCC), where I graduated with Honors with a minor in Biology.  Over numerous years, I have researched these forms of contraception by interviewing professors, combing through libraries, and interviewing those who practice these methods. Here is a list of what I have found to be valid forms of birth control. It is curious that these methods are rarely discussed due to societal emphasis on pharmaceutical forms, such as the Pill. See list of Pill side effects below.

Here is my list of natural birth control methods, starting with the male. Scroll down for news on the Male Pill and other male birth control methods on the horizon.

Male forms of Natural Birth Control

Both are dry methods which involve some of the following techniques:
  • Muscle flexing
  • Squeeze technique
  • Breathing technique
  • Taoist
  • Tantric
Coitus Saxonicus is when a man squeezes the base of his penis immediately before ejaculation so that the semen is diverted to the bladder. It is safe & harmless.

It is a MYTH that male orgasm and ejaculation are the same thing. They actually are two separate mechanisms. A man can have an orgasm and no ejaculation, as well as have an ejaculation and no orgasm. This is backed up by numerous scientific literature (listed at the bottom of this article). From Kinsey, to Masters and Johnson, to Zilbergeld, many prominent researchers have verified this data.

Male multiple orgasms are the best and most reliable of these three forms of birth control. It involves simple breath control & muscle flexing techniques which divert semen and bring about more intense, longer lasting orgasms which double as a natural birth control method.

I very highly recommend this book, Multi-Orgasmic Man by Mantak Chia. It's $3.79 for Kindle, $5 used book on Amazon. A great deal at that price! It explains simple the techniques. It does discuss Taoist sexosophy (sexual philosophy). If that isn't your thing, you can just read the diagrams & exercises.

Men I know who practice this say their orgasms feel like intense waves as opposed to one shorter orgasm; they feel energized, not tired after sex. The average ejaculatory orgasm in males is 7 seconds; female orgasm averages 21 seconds. Male multiple orgasm has higher levels of orgasmic sensation which charts in a wave pattern when compared with ejaculatory orgasm.  They tell me they prefer this orgasm to the usual ejaculatory one. The scientific books covering this topic are listed as sources at the end of this article. Chia's book is in non-scientific terms, which makes it an quick read without being bogged down by medical and physiological details. Here is an excellent article by a doctor who practices this method. How to be a Multi-Orgasmic Man

Kinsey was the first researcher to study multiple orgasms in men. Kinsey results Table 48, p 232.

The withdrawal technique (aka Pullout) is to pull the penis out of the vagina before ejaculation. It isn't as reliable and is harder to control than the multiple orgasm technique.

This is a how a man I interviewed described his Pull-out (Withdrawal) technique:

  1. Start off with getting as close to orgasm as possible
  2. Hold your breath
  3. Slow down the thrusting
  4. Pull out while holding breath (right before the muscles start tensing)
  5. Don't wait till the ejaculate is halfway up the shaft, because then it's too late!

Female forms of Natural Birth Control

Fertility Awareness Method, or How to use Science in Preventing Pregnancy.
Natural female birth control methods are non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical. These are affordable, safe, and fairly simple methods.

What you will need:
  • 1 digital thermometer
  • 1 Menstrual Cycle Chart
  • 1 Basal Body Temperature (BBT) Chart
Menstrual Cycle Chart options

Printable charts have the advantage of allowing you to:
  • observe your menstrual pattern over time
  • having a hard copy to bring along to doctors visits

 A digital thermometer detects the fraction of a degree difference which reveals the fertile period, known as Ovulation.

Dr. Carol L. Clark discusses these methods.

How to test cervical mucus

  1. Place finger inside vagina (be sure to feel for some mucus)
  2. Bring finger and thumb together so mucus is on both fingers
  3. Slowly pull fingers apart
  4. Chart the thickness (viscosity)
  5. It's thin & stringy (upon pulling fingers apart) just before Ovulation

These methods are virtually free, as opposed to fertility monitors, which are rather pricey, such as the Lady Comp which sells between $400 - $500. Other fertility monitors are a device, such as Clearblue, which sells between $140 - $200 and require refills which sell for about $40 per pack of 30 (one months supply). Clearblue monitors menstrual cycle and hormone levels, LH & FSH in urine. LH is Lutienizing Hormone, which triggers ovulation. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) peaks during ovulation.

Family planning clinics claim that they have affordable birth control, but $30 per month for the Pill isn't cheap. The methods I propose here are within virtually everyone's budget. Besides, the Pill has major side effects.

The most common side effect of the pill is breakthrough bleeding or spotting
This is when a woman bleeds within the weeks she is taking the active pills. The reason for this is changes in hormone levels.
Other common side effects include:
  • nausea
  • headaches
  • breast soreness
  • acne
  • decreased libido
  • depression
  • moodiness
  • weight gain

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the more scientifically inclined (and this is purely optional) the items would also include:
1 Microscope
1 set of litmus papers
1 slide
The mucus will appear stringy (linear) under a microscope around the time of ovulation. The reason for this is to facilitate the travel of the sperm.
Litmus paper tests the ph level of the mucus. Around the time of ovulation, the ph would be alkaline. Since sperm is alkaline, they don't cancel each other out. During the rest of the menstrual cycle, cervical mucus is acidic, thus acting as a natural spermicide.
